The Wooden House was built in 2003 by the previous owners. It is a large spacious property made from scandinavian pine. Over one mile of wood was used in its construction.
It is situated on the right hand side approx. 100 yards from a small bridge which passes over a stream.
The house has off road parking and is secured by a strong gate, which needs to be closed at all times when not in use (otherwise visitors will saunter down the drive and graze). Cyclists can also store their bikes and equipment in a secure shed.
The drive from Stornoway or Tarbert to Breanish is spectacular. The contrast of rugged hills and mountains to serine lochs and the rugged atlantic coastline are views to behold. Once at your destination in Breanish there is nothing to do but relax. It will take you a few hours for your body to tune in to the silence, other than the noise of the sea and the howling wind.
There is an abundance of beaches in the vicinity and one within walking distance. Many beaches are under half an hour away and are not to be missed. Deer are also to be seen most evenings and mornings from your bedroom window. Rare birds are also frequent visitors to the croft and garden.
Uig beach is the location where a man walking his dog in the 1800's found the Lewis Chessmen. These Viking pieces are now displayed in museums in Scotland and in London. The local museum at Uig (and tearoom) is well worth a visit.
